Solar and lunar eclipses are spectacular
events that appeal to the spectators of the sky. A solar eclipse occurs when
the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth. During this time, the moon
blocks the sunlight reaching the earth and the moon's shadow is cast on the earth
resulting in a solar eclipse.
We can talk of three types of solar eclipses,
which include a total solar eclipse, a partial solar eclipse and an annular
eclipse. A total solar eclipse occurs when the sun, moon, and earth align in a
straight line.
In a total solar eclipse, it is completely blocked from view for a few minutes during the maximum phase of the solar eclipse. A total solar eclipse is seen only from a small region on Earth.
A partial solar eclipse occurs when the Sun, Moon
and Earth are not in a straight line. In this event, only a part of the Sun is
blocked from view.
In an annular solar eclipse, the sun will appear around the cover area of the moon like a ring of fire. This is a very spectacular event that occurs when the Moon is farthest from Earth. This solar eclipse was a wonderful sight, which the world has seen on Sunday, 21 June.
